About the role

As an Early Career Community Engagement Worker, you’ll help build stronger connections between community and mental health support. Working alongside experienced teams, you’ll engage with people with lived experience, support co-design and community partnerships, and contribute to creating more inclusive, accessible and responsive mental health services.

This position requires traveling across the Brimbank, Maribyrnong and Wyndham sites.

Your duties include:

  • Assist with the facilitation of community engagement strategies, contributing to the development of inclusive health promotion resources and activities
  • Build the capacity of the program staff to connect consumers with services, monitoring engagement ensuring alignment with agreed goals
  • Collaborate with staff and external organisations to improve access to services, strengthening awareness of community needs
  • Attend to meetings and activities to promote the program and assist with productive partnerships and networks

Our ideal candidate:

  • Relevant undergraduate qualification in community services, health promotion, social sciences or related field (minimum Cert IV/Diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated interest in mental health and community development principles
  • Ability to build respectful relationships with consumers, carers, community members and partner stakeholders
  • Ability to travel across sites (Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Wyndham)

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
