This pool recruitment process will be used to fill permanent, fixed term, full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 24 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency.

There are currently 2 full time, fixed term vacancies available to the 30 June 2027 (with the possibility of extension/s and/or permanency)

About the role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for people with a commitment to social justice to be considered for various paralegal roles throughout the Family Law Division, supporting duty lawyer services and in-house practice solicitors.

Paralegals working within our duty lawyer teams at Family Court Services, Children’s Court (Protection) Services and the Domestic Violence Legal Unit, will provide intake, triage and administrative support, as well as taking applications for grants of aid, drafting urgent court documents, and providing information, referrals, and legal advice to clients under supervision.

The In-House Practice paralegals provide support to our Family Law Practice solicitors, assisting with inspecting subpoenas, drafting correspondence/court documents, trial preparation and legal research.

Paralegals may be required to undertake rotations or provide support to other business units within the Family Law Division.

About you

The ideal candidates will have:

  • experience working with complex clients from diverse backgrounds, with an ability to discern legal and non-legal matters;
  • experience working as part of a team with the ability to contribute positively to that team;
  • highly developed analytical and communication skills;
  • the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • good working knowledge of the court processes, Legal Aid services and other service providers is desirable; and knowledge of Family Law procedures is desirable
