The Association provides conferences, professional learning events, teaching resources, textbooks for VCE History subjects, education and consultancy services, social events, mentoring programs, and multiple platforms and opportunities for History teachers to support and learn from each other.

THIS ROLE

The Manager, Events is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of a full calendar of in-person and online professional learning opportunities for History teachers and exam revision lectures for students. To achieve this, they establish and nurture positive relationships with speakers, workshop presenters, venues, suppliers, advertisers, trade exhibitors and event attendees.

The Manager, Events coordinates the events-related work of the Events Officer and the Partner Management Lead.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

Effective fulfilment of this role includes:

· developing a program of professional learning that meets the current needs of History teachers and students

· developing effective feedback and evaluation processes that ensure HTAV understands the current needs of History teachers

· supporting other projects that involve event management, including the Annual General Meeting

· sourcing and liaising with speakers/presenters

· sourcing and liaising with venues and audio-visual services

· developing detailed and timely event plans

· creating event-related promotions and communications

· managing event logistics

· leading the events team with energy, kindness and efficiency

· coordinating the involvement of HTAV Board members, volunteers and staff in events

· writing reports to keep the HTAV Board informed of outcomes and developing trends.

This role may involve other duties as required.

You will also be:

· participating in strategic planning

· reporting on progress against strategic goals

· developing and monitoring annual budgets

· developing and reviewing event-related policies

· maintaining relevant website and Customer Relationship Management system information

· developing and updating promotions and comms templates.

You will need:

· excellent interpersonal skills

· the ability to travel as needed

· outstanding written and verbal communication skills

· time management, organisation and prioritisation

· an enthusiastic approach to collaboration

· an intrinsic drive for continuous improvement

· confidence and creativity

· a current Working With Children Check.

WORKING AT HTAV

Flexible working arrangements may be requested. All staff are expected to attend major HTAV events.

All HTAV staff work in hybrid mode, combining office-based and working-from-home arrangements. Approximately half of your fortnightly hours will be spent at the Collingwood office.
