About the role

Horizon Accountants Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with at least 2 years experience to join our team in Geraldton, WA. This is a part-time in-house position that offers flexibility whilst maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our clients' financial records. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate ledgers, and ensuring all accounting records are properly documented and reconciled. This role is essential to our operations, providing the foundation upon which our accountants deliver strategic financial advice to our clients.

Key responsibilities

Recording financial transactions in accounting systems, including invoices, receipts, payments and general ledger entries

Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies or variances

Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Processing payroll information and ensuring accurate employee records

Preparing financial reports and statements for review by senior accountants

Maintaining organised filing systems for financial documents and ensuring compliance with record retention requirements

Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures

Communicating with clients regarding invoicing, payments and financial queries

Ensuring all bookkeeping tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accounts Officer/Clerk, ideally in a small to medium-sized accounting practice

Strong proficiency in accounting software, with experience using MYOB, Xero or similar platforms highly valued

Solid knowledge of bookkeeping principles, general accounting practices and financial reporting standards

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Competence in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer applications

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and team members

Reliability and trustworthiness when handling sensitive financial information

A qualification in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field would be advantageous
