The Role
Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Operations Manager will take ownership of daily farm operations and coordinate people, machinery, inputs and logistics. The role offers increasing decision-making responsibility as you build a capable team and support the business’s long-term growth.
- Lead permanent and seasonal employees across farm operations
- Coordinate seeding, spraying, spreading, harvest and general farm work
- Plan labour, machinery, inputs and logistics ahead of each season
- Set clear responsibilities and develop employees to work independently
- Maintain strong standards in safety, quality, machinery care and records
- Adjust priorities around weather, cost, timing and operational demands
- Improve systems, communication, preparedness and farm efficiency .
About You
You are an experienced broadacre operator and people leader who combines practical farming knowledge with sound judgement and clear communication. You are comfortable taking ownership, developing others and contributing to an isolated rural community over the long term.
- Strong practical experience in broadacre dryland cropping
- Previous leadership or people-management experience
- Sound knowledge of crop production, rotations and seasonal operations
- Competence with modern farm machinery, guidance systems and data
- Mechanical aptitude and practical maintenance skills
- Strong planning, delegation, record-keeping and problem-solving ability
- MC licence and chemical certification, or willingness to obtain both
