Due to continued growth, our longstanding and highly successful client requires an experienced paralegal to provide comprehensive legal and operational support to the Senior Legal Counsel across legal matters, contracts, governance, compliance, research and legal operations. The position would suit either a commercial paralegal or someone looking to move out of the legal profession.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinate legal matters from intake through to completion
Maintain matter registers, action lists, dashboards, files, document management systems (LawVu)
Draft, review and amend standard agreements under supervision
Prepare contract summaries and risk assessments for review by Senior Counsel
Manage and coordinate internal approvals, execution, signature processes, renewals and contract obligations, driving follow up with or resond to stakeholders
Monitor key dates, obligations and renewal timeframes
Conduct legal and regulatory research
Prepare research summaries, memoranda, briefing notes and internal guidance materials
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments
Preparation of legal advice
Prepare meeting packs, resolutions, agendas and supporting papers
Maintain governance, statutory, compliance and risk records
Coordinate external legal provider matters.
Our ideal applicant will have a minimum of 3 years experience in a paralegal, legal assistant, legal administrator or similar legal support role, along with a qualification in law, legal studies, paralegal studies or related discipline. In-house corporate legal experience is preferred but not essential.
You should have demonstrated experience in legal matters and contract support, including drafting, reviewing, proofreading and managing legal and commercial documents under supervision. Your previous exposure to corporate and commercial law, property, construction, procurement, regulatory, governance, compliance, risk or financial services law would be highly regarded. You will also need strong legal research, drafting and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail and an understanding of compliance, governance and risk management frameworks.
