This role will involve working within a bridge maintenance crew based from Wagga, ensuring works specifications, quality control, work plan and general site administration requirements are followed and implemented.

This involves various duties including hands on operational (manual labouring) tasks, completing checklists and quality documentation procedures, monitoring work activities, verifying product/materials specs and reconciling documentation from suppliers, overseeing and verifying documentation relating to traffic control activities, toolbox talk records etc. You will be responsible for completing accurate records; and conducting safety, environmental and quality checks and audits. A sound level of computer skills will be essential for you to meet the needs of this role.

You must be able to operate independently, whilst also demonstrating a good level of team skills. You will work under limited supervision and direction, and will need to be capable of managing routine problems as they arise during the course of the work by utilising your acquired knowledge and referring to standard guidelines and manuals.

This position is available for an initial period until Christmas with a likelihood of extending for the right person. It will involve travel across various locations within the state, staying away for up to 10 days at a time. Night work, weekend work and regular overtime is also a regular occurrence in this team.

The successful applicant will be confident, proactive and have experience operating within a civil construction/bridge works/road works environment or similar industry equivalent. You will have the ability to understand and apply quality assurance and specifications to units of work.

Sound literacy and numeracy skills and intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite will assist in your success within this role.

Requirements of the role include:

Construction Industry Certification (White Card)

Work On Foot certificate (or willing to obtain - can be undertaken as part of the onboarding process for successful applicant/s)

Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team

Traffic control tickets or willingness to obtain within first few weeks of employment

Ability to work within close proximity to live traffic zones

Unrestricted Australian driver licence

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with members of the public, external providers and staff at all levels - in both written and oral form

demonstrated experience in physical labouring roles, preferably within civil or transport projects

Previous experience in a quality role would be preferred, or previous work with a civil project team such as solar farm sites etc, and the ability to apply your knowledge and experience to learn all aspects of this role

Knowledge and understanding of bridge works would be a distinct advantage

NOTE: Applicants will need to reside within 100km radius of Wagga.

Successful applicants will need to be able to pass a police records check.
