As a Head of Department (Special Education - SPED), you will be responsible for the following duties:
Lead the design, implementation, and review of curriculum, pedagogical practices, and assessment strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
Ensure instructional programs are inclusive, differentiated, and responsive to varying learner profiles.
Collaborate with allied professionals (e.g., therapists, psychologists) and families to monitor student progress and tailor support strategies.
Oversee the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure their effective implementation.
Design and lead programs that promote students’ character development, resilience, and social-emotional well-being.
Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Foster professional learning communities and support teacher growth through coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
Lead inter-departmental or cross-functional teams in the execution of school-wide initiatives and strategic projects related to special needs education.
Oversee communication strategies and develop materials to support engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of staff within the department.
Participate in broader school and organisation-wide programs and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or other relevant qualifications.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a Senior Teacher role.
Experience working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage.
