The CIO has executive support to establish AI as a practical business capability and is now looking for the person who can help turn that vision into real business outcomes.

Your first six months will focus on designing and delivering practical AI pilot programs that demonstrate measurable operational improvements and establish the foundation for broader AI adoption.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CIO, you'll become the organisation's first dedicated AI Engineer.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining software development, AI delivery and business engagement.

You'll work closely with operational leaders to understand business challenges, design AI-enabled solutions and deliver pilot programs that solve meaningful problems.

The expectation isn't to produce interesting demonstrations.

It's to build solutions that progress into production and create lasting value.

What You'll Actually Do

• Design and deliver the organisation's first AI pilot programs
• Build AI-enabled applications using modern LLMs and AI services
• Partner with operational leaders to identify high-value AI opportunities
• Develop production-ready AI solutions
• Integrate AI into existing business processes and platforms
• Help establish AI governance, standards and engineering practices
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend where they create genuine value
• Contribute to the organisation's long-term AI strategy

What You'll Bring

You'll ideally bring:

• Commercial experience designing and building AI-enabled applications or products
• Strong software engineering capability using modern development practices
• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and modern AI platforms
• Experience integrating AI into existing applications, platforms or business processes
• The ability to translate business problems into practical technical solutions
• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with business stakeholders

Most importantly, you'll enjoy building new capability and seeing your work make a measurable difference.

• North Sydney
• Five days per week in the office
• $200,000-$220,000 package inclusive of superannuation
