We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with experience in mechanical equipment, plant systems, fabrication processes, construction projects, and operational improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, designing, analysing and optimising mechanical systems and engineering processes used across structural steel fabrication and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design, support and optimise mechanical equipment, plant systems and engineering processes for structural steel fabrication and construction projects.
Conduct technical analysis of plant layouts, operational workflows, maintenance requirements and equipment performance to improve productivity and efficiency.
Assist with engineering planning, process improvement, equipment selection and mechanical system optimisation.
Coordinate site inspections, commissioning activities, preventive maintenance planning and compliance assessments.
Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in line with Australian Workplace Health and Safety requirements, engineering standards and relevant project specifications.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering reports, drawings, calculations, maintenance records and project documentation.
Use AutoCAD/CAD software and MS Office tools to prepare drawings, reports and technical materials.
Liaise with engineers, project managers, contractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to required standards.
Identify mechanical faults, operational issues and process inefficiencies, and recommend practical engineering solutions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication, installation, maintenance and construction operations.
Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience in mechanical engineering, plant systems, fabrication, manufacturing, structural steel or construction-related environments.
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, maintenance planning, plant layout, workflow analysis and engineering processes.
Ability to read, prepare and interpret technical drawings, engineering documents and project specifications.
Experience using AutoCAD/CAD software and MS Office applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, project managers, contractors and suppliers.
Understanding of Australian WHS requirements and engineering compliance standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-based environment.
