About the Role

We are looking for a careful, organised and motivated Laboratory Operations Assistant to join our team and support the day-to-day handling and registration of customer samples.

You will play an important role in ensuring that samples are received, checked, registered, stored and prepared correctly before being sent to the relevant laboratory departments for testing.

This is a great opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career candidates who are interested in building a career in food science, laboratory operations or the food testing industry.

Responsibilities

Receive, unpack and check incoming customer samples according to established procedures.

Register and record samples accurately in the laboratory system.

Check sample conditions, including temperature where required, and ensure samples are stored correctly.

Prepare and organise samples for distribution to the relevant laboratory departments.

Prepare and manage chilled bins and ensure they are returned according to customer requirements.

Maintain accurate documentation, records and filing/archiving systems.

Follow established SOPs, quality and laboratory procedures at all times.

Maintain a clean, tidy and organised sample reception and storage area.

Escalate any issues relating to customer samples, test requirements or procedures to the Team Leader.

Support the team in addressing customer concerns and operational issues where required.

Participate in quality, health and safety activities, audits and training.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory operations team.

Requirements

ITE Higher Nitec, Nitec, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Applied Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Life Sciences or a related discipline.

Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Candidates with experience in laboratory operations, food testing, sample handling, logistics or a similar environment will have an advantage.

Experience with LIMS or other laboratory information systems is an advantage, but training will be provided.

Meticulous, organised and attentive to detail.

Able to follow established procedures and work accurately.

Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn.

Good team player with the ability to work independently when required.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Willing to work Tuesday to Saturday.

Good command of English and able to communicate effectively with team members.
