Location: From any Lindsay or SRT site. Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane - Australia.
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday during key business hours
Salary: $13•000 - $150000 + 12% Super

About the Role
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the deployment, support and continuous improvement of Lindsay Australia's national network and cybersecurity infrastructure. The role will support Fortinet-based projects across more than 60 sites while providing Level 3 operational support to ensure secure, reliable and scalable connectivity for the business. The position requires strong Fortinet expertise, experience with SD-WAN, firewalls, switching and wireless technologies, and the ability to manage infrastructure projects from design through implementation.

Due to the transition away from outsourced network support services, Lindsay Australia requires an experienced Fortinet-certified engineer to lead the deployment, management, and optimisation of network and security infrastructure across more than 60 national sites. The role will be responsible for delivering strategic network projects, supporting business-as-usual operations, maintaining security compliance, and ensuring the ongoing availability, performance and resilience of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the rollout and standardisation of network infrastructure across more than 60 national sites.
  • Manage and maintain Fortinet SD-WAN services to ensure resilient and optimised connectivity between sites, cloud services and datacentres.
  • Provide Level 3 support for network, firewall and security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, routing standards and network design documentation.
  • Monitor network performance, availability and security posture, implementing improvements where required.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects including:
  • Site acquisitions and integrations
  • Network refreshes
  • Security uplift initiatives
  • Cloud connectivity projects
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Work closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders and external vendors to deliver solutions that meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company cybersecurity frameworks, Essential Eight controls and industry best practices.
  • Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, support procedures and solution designs.
  • Participate in after-hours support and major incident response activities as required.

Essential Requirements - Strong hands-on experience with:

  • FortiGate
  • FortiManager
  • FortiAnalyzer
  • FortiSwitch
  • IPSec VPNs
  • SD-WAN
  • BGP and OSPF routing
  • Network segmentation and security policies
  • Experience managing multi-site WAN environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within ITIL-based service environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience supporting enterprise network environments.

Desirable

  • NSE6 or NSE7 certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
  • Knowledge of NIST Cyber Security Framework and Essential Eight.
  • Experience within transport, logistics or warehousing environments.

Qualifications

  • Fortinet NSE5 or higher (mandatory)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Networking or Cyber Security (preferred)
