In-House Legal Counsel, Singapore & Southeast Asia

Reporting to: Regional Legal Lead, Asia Pacific
Location: Singapore
Regional Scope: Singapore and key Southeast Asian markets, with support for broader APAC initiatives as required

About the Role

We are seeking a commercially minded and hands-on legal counsel to support our business in Singapore and across key Southeast Asian markets. This role will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice across a broad range of commercial, regulatory, governance and risk matters, with a primary focus on logistics, supply chain and cross-border operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders across operations, sales, finance and management, and will also coordinate with external counsel and relevant authorities where required. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment and partnering closely with the business on both day-to-day and strategic matters.

Key Responsibilities

1) Commercial Contracts and Transactional Support

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and logistics-related agreements for Singapore and regional operations, including freight forwarding agreements, warehousing and logistics service agreements, supplier and vendor contracts, service level agreements, and sales and purchasing contracts.

Support cross-border transactions involving air, sea and road freight arrangements, taking into account applicable international conventions, local legal requirements and internal risk policies.

Provide practical legal guidance to ensure contractual arrangements are aligned with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and internal approval standards.

2) Regulatory Compliance and Business Advisory

Provide legal and compliance support for day-to-day operations and strategic projects across the coverage region.

Advise on legal and regulatory risk in one or more relevant areas, such as trade compliance, anti-bribery and corruption, data protection, employment law, workplace safety, and ESG-related requirements, in collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts where appropriate.

Support market entry initiatives, licensing processes, regulatory filings, and interactions with relevant authorities and regulators.

Conduct legal risk assessments for new business models, including cross-border e-commerce logistics solutions and regional operational structures.

3) Corporate Governance and Internal Policy Framework

Support and strengthen legal policies, governance frameworks and internal control mechanisms for Singapore entities and regional subsidiaries.

Oversee corporate compliance matters, including statutory records, annual filings, governance standardization and post-acquisition integration support where relevant.

Administer internal authorization and approval frameworks, including signing authorities, powers of attorney and related governance documentation.

Help improve contract approval workflows and deliver legal awareness training for cross-functional stakeholders.

4) Risk Management and Dispute Resolution

Identify and assess operational legal risks and develop practical mitigation measures, including those relating to contractual liability, indemnities and insurance arrangements.

Support the development and maintenance of regional legal risk control and dispute management processes.

Manage and coordinate commercial claims, disputes, arbitration and litigation matters in collaboration with external counsel, and provide clear recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience
Required

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent from a recognized institution.

At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally gained in an international law firm, multinational company, or in-house legal environment.

Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts independently.

Sound knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial and contract law, logistics and transport-related legal matters, trade compliance, data protection, employment law, or corporate governance.

Strong command of written and spoken English, with the ability to handle legal documentation and cross-border communication effectively.

Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

Preferred

Qualification to practice law in Singapore, or strong experience advising on Singapore legal and regulatory matters.

Experience supporting regional operations across Southeast Asia.

Familiarity with logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain or related business models in the Asia-Pacific region.

Experience in corporate governance support for Singapore entities and/or cross-border corporate transactions.

Additional Asian language capabilities would be an advantage due to the regional scope of the role and cross-border stakeholder engagement.

Strong commercial judgment, stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.

What We Offer

Opportunity to work in a regional legal role with meaningful exposure to Singapore and Southeast Asian markets

Close partnership with business and senior management on commercially significant matters

International and collaborative working environment

Opportunities to contribute to process improvement, governance enhancement and business growth initiatives

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified candidates. Hiring decisions will be based on merit, qualifications and business needs.
