Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility delivering essential electricity, water and wastewater services across 1.3 million square kilometres. From the tropical Top End to remote desert communities, we play a critical role in sustaining life and supporting communities across the Territory.
We are looking for a Specialist Water Systems Engineer to join our Water Services team in Darwin. In this role, you will provide high-level technical advice and leadership to support the sustainable and efficient operation of drinking water source systems across the Northern Territory. You will work closely with service delivery teams, contractors and stakeholders to optimise groundwater systems, improve operational performance and enhance water security for our communities.
About the role
You will contribute directly to the reliability and sustainability of vital water infrastructure, supporting both urban and remote communities. Reporting to the Manager Water Systems & Quality, you will play a key role in technical decision-making, planning and system optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist technical advice on groundwater systems, including operation, maintenance planning and risk management
Lead groundwater monitoring programs, including data analysis, reporting and contractor coordination
Conduct investigations into water asset performance (e.g. borefields) and recommend improvement strategies
Develop and contribute to operational plans, procedures and emergency response planning
Support safe, environmentally responsible operations aligned with regulatory and organisational requirements
Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours operational support
About You
We are looking for a candidate who is analytical, collaborative and solutions-focused, with a passion for sustainable water management.
You will bring:
Mandatory minimum 3-4 year degree in Science or Engineering (recognised in Australia)
Strong analytical and investigative skills with experience preparing technical reports
Proven knowledge of groundwater systems and/or water supply from groundwater sources
Experience in project planning, contractor management and procurement processes
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable:
Qualifications in water engineering, hydrogeology or groundwater management
Experience delivering groundwater monitoring programs or managing water assets
Experience working in remote or regional environments
Willingness to travel to remote communities as required
