About the Role:
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Grocery Department Manager with strong leadership skills, a focus on driving operational excellence, and the ability to lead and further develop a high-performing team!
This role will include on-the-job training; "the Spudshed way" to help maximise your experience and skills as a Grocery Department Manager. You’ll play an important part in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers, while developing valuable retail experience.
Responsibilities:
Grocery Department Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Meet rostering requirements, daily sales targets, and expense controls.
Monitor quality control, wastage, and shrinkage.
Bringing awareness to the team about seasonal, environmental, or current quality-related issues.
Stock management, checking deliveries to ensure store requirements are fulfilled.
Proactively meeting, improving, and engaging the team on store presentation standards.
Supporting customers’ needs through excellent service.
Support Grocery department as required.
About you:
Weekend availability.
Experience with direct suppliers and purchase orders is essential.
Physically fit - regular heavy lifting/bending.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and be prepared to work in cold conditions within the freezer section.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership skills.
Customer focus and passion for maintaining an excellent department standard.

About Spud Shed
From humble beginnings, we began our market garden in 1965 on our 5 acre property in Yangebup, growing a simple crop of beans for the local market. With dedication and hard work we have expanded our farming operations to include a range of vegetables from our market gardens in Baldivis, Myalup and Manjimup, fruit from our Orchards in Kununurra, eggs from our Poultry farm in Anketell and cattle from Manjimup and North Dandalup. We also buy from and sell for local produce growers at our Market Floor in Canning Vale.
One of the many advantages of our business, being hands on, is we are able to respond to customer needs quickly. This has seen Spudshed evolve over the years to a highly competitive independent retailer that now offers a full grocery range in addition to fresh produce, meat, fish, bakery and dairy.
Cutting out the middle man has become a bit of an obsession! As primary producers we are at the forefront of the industry and recognise the benefits as growers and more importantly for consumers to provide grower direct product at farm gate prices. We enjoy a fantastic relationship with some amazing West Australian suppliers and are a strong supporter of WA products and people. Our own people consist of over 700 everyday West Australians, who are proud to be part of our family.
