We are seeking an exceptional ANU law student who is among the top performers in their cohort and is looking to accelerate their legal career through practical, real-world experience.
This role is not a typical legal assistant position. It is designed for a highly capable future practitioner who wants to develop the skills required to eventually run legal matters independently.
About the Role
You will work directly with the business owner and legal advisers to research, analyse, and prepare evidence briefs relating to a range of commercial, contractual, regulatory, and dispute matters affecting our business.
Each year, our organisation deals with approximately:
10 major matters requiring substantial investigation, evidence gathering, legal research, and strategic preparation.
15 minor matters requiring concise research, document preparation, and administrative support.
You will assist in:
Legal research and analysis.
Preparing evidence briefs and supporting documentation.
Reviewing contracts, correspondence, and records.
Organising and summarising evidence.
Drafting reports, chronologies, and matter summaries.
Preparing material for legal advisers and external counsel.
Managing matter files and maintaining document control.
Identifying legal risks and opportunities through research.
Who We're Looking For
Current ANU Law student.
Strong academic record with distinction-level performance or equivalent.
Exceptional research and writing skills.
Ability to analyse complex information and present clear conclusions.
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Commercially minded and capable of working independently.
Ambitious, proactive, and eager to take increasing responsibility.

Remuneration: $45 per hour
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible by arrangement.
