Whether you’re preparing drinks exactly as our guests want or serving them delicious food, you’ll be devoted to creating relaxing, memorable experiences.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

Develop departmental standards and procedures to promote salesmanship, beverage creativity and profit

Provide input in terms of promotions which is aimed at increasing revenue, covers and profit for the Bar under the direction of the Bar Manager.

Upsell and promote certain products to guests to increase overall bar revenue

Assist in inventory management for all products in the bar including any ordering through PurchasePlus etc

Ensure that all POS item listings are updated and aligned with the current menu.

Deliver Food and Beverage service of high standard and in accordance with departmental standards and procedures

Prepares for service and report any irregularities

Grooming is impeccable and in accordance with IHG personal presentation standards

Equipment is clean, sorted and stored

Glassware is polished

Requirements for special occasions are ready

Music and lighting is functioning

Carries out effective service by ensuring all staff are aware of their role in:

Requisition bar items according to bar stocks

Greeting and seating guests

Explaining and up-selling daily beverage specials

Taking food and beverage orders and processing them accurately

Ensuring payment methods are handled accurately

Ensuring bar and working areas are cleaned and re-set quickly

Conversing with Guests in relation to the food and beverage products

Carries out effective beverage service by ensuring:

Beverages are up-sold and regularly replenished, abiding by responsible alcohol service regulations

Converse with Guests about wine, advising the types and styles of wine, taking wine orders and serving wine

Promoting and selling cocktails to guests

Making and presenting cocktails

Coffee and tea is served hot and in accordance with standard

Patron care standards are adhered to by ensuring:

Guests are advised on alcoholic beverages

The strengths of alcohol is advised and guests are advised as to their effect

Compliance with legal provisions of local liquor codes

Level of intoxication of guests is assessed and appropriate action taken

Advise guest on the hotel’s policy of smoking

Monitor factors which interfere with the total experience of the guest

Attend to any guest feedback during his shift and take appropriate action to resolve guest complaints

Requisition bar items according to bar stocks

Conduct on the job training in accordance with the departmental standards and procedures and maintains a record of progress for each staff member

Works with Superior on manpower planning and management needs, including roster and schedule.

What we need from you

● Strong Bar and Beverage knowledge

● At least 3 years of experience in the a supervisory level, including management experience
