Plant Operator Waste Facilities

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Plant Operator – Waste Facilities to undertake plant operations, landfill and transfer station activities, and customer service duties across Council's waste facilities in Biloela.

About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor – Waste, you will operate plant and equipment at landfill and transfer station sites while providing a high level of customer service to residents and commercial customers. The role involves a combination of plant operation, labouring, administration, and waste collection activities.

Key Responsibilities

Operate plant and equipment at landfill and transfer station facilities.

Perform labouring and site maintenance duties.

Conduct daily vehicle and plant inspections.

Operate the landfill weighbridge and process customer payments.

Collect recyclables and commercial waste as required.

Prepare daily work reports and complete routine administration tasks.

Respond to customer enquiries and service requests.

Participate in toolbox meetings, training, and disaster management activities.

Promote safe work practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience operating heavy vehicles and plant

Demonstrated labouring experience

Good literacy, numeracy, communication, and computer skills

The ability to work effectively within a team and under minimal supervision

A strong commitment to Workplace Health & Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity principles.

Essential Requirements

Current Queensland Class 'C' Driver's Licence

Queensland Construction White Card (or equivalent General Safety Induction Card).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Front-End Loader competency

Self-Propelled or Roller Compactor competency

Queensland HR Driver Licence

Experience operating waste collection vehicles and equipment

Local Government experience

Additional plant operator tickets.
