About the opportunity

IFYS Accommodation Services has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Therapeutic Case Worker to join the team at our Maroochydore Youth Crisis Accommodation program. This is a longstanding and supportive team with some staff holding 20 years of experience within the program.

The Youth Crisis Accommodation program provides young people aged 16 to 25 experiencing homelessness with access to support for a 3-month duration.

Our ideal candidate will possess a strong client-centred practice framework, have sound knowledge of local services and resources, and experience conducting intake assessments and delivering case management.

  • Part-time hourly equivalent $44.58 + applicable penalty rates

Key responsibilities

  • Engage with young people and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Conduct intake and initial assessments with young people requesting accommodation and support in alignment with guidelines
  • Create individualised support plans with young people to meet their needs and goals
  • Assist young people to develop new living skills and participate in the community of their choice
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all aspects of the shelter to a high standard
  • Completing a range of administrative tasks in a timely manner

Requirements for the role

  • Experience working with people exhibiting challenging behaviours and complex needs or an understanding of the impacts of trauma on a young person's life
  • A go-getter attitude with the ability to adapt to changing situations and remain calm in the face of a crisis
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly, especially with young people
  • Flexibility with hours of work and available nights and weekends over a rotating roster
  • Qualifications in or currently studying Youth work, Mental Health, Community Services, Human Services or Social Work highly desirable

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful

  • Valid Queensland driver's license with no restrictions
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (A new check will be completed through IFYS systems)
  • Ability to provide two recent line manager references (including your current employer)

Roster information

Sleepover shift: 4:30pm to 8:30am, Day shift: 8:00am to 5:00pm

Week 1- Friday, Saturday and Sunday sleepover shifts

Week 2- Wednesday sleepover, Saturday and Sunday day shifts

Week 3- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday sleepover shifts

Week 4- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday day shifts
