Senior IT Systems Administrator

Brisbane Based | 12-Month Contract | Occasional PNG Travel
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Systems Administrator for a 12-month contract with a well-established Australian group operating across Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Based in Brisbane, this is a broad, hands-on infrastructure role supporting a multi-site operating environment. The position will also involve occasional travel to Papua New Guinea to support the organisation's Port Moresby operations and work alongside the local IT team.

About You
We are looking for a practical and adaptable IT professional who enjoys solving problems and working across a broad technology environment.

There is potential for the position to transition to a permanent role following the initial contract.

The Role
Working closely with the Group IT Manager and wider IT team, you will support and improve the organisation's technology environment across systems, networks, Microsoft 365, cyber security and infrastructure. This is not a narrowly defined support role. You will have exposure to a wide range of technologies and will be expected to troubleshoot issues, contribute to infrastructure and security improvements, support projects and help develop the technical capability of other team members.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy environments.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune and Defender.
  • Support firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, Layer 2/3 switching and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network, Microsoft 365 and end-user issues.
  • Assist with cyber security controls including MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, cloud improvements and technology projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation, procedures, network diagrams and asset records.
  • Work with vendors and business stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Mentor and provide technical support to PNG-based IT personnel.
  • Travel to Papua New Guinea when required to support local operations and projects.
