Reporting to the Switchboard Design Lead, you'll take on complex design assignments across distribution boards, motor control centres, control panels and custom-built assemblies — reviewing technical specifications and applying relevant Australian Standards to deliver designs that are compliant, buildable and efficient.

This is a business that is genuinely investingin the way it designs and builds. They're working toward a fully modular switchboard design, systems and process, and you'll have a hand in getting them there.
What You'll Be Doing

• CAD design and drafting on distribution boards, motor control switchboards, control and other panels
• Interpreting specifications, standards and complex SLDs and control schematics, and applying them in your design work
• Checking design and drafting work completed by others to ensure compliance and correct interpretation of design intent
• Working with the Lead Switchboard Designer and Operations Manager to refine work practices and improve efficiency in design, construction methods and materials usage
• Automating repetitive design tasks through customised tools in CAD and Excel
• Liaising directly with clients to understand requirements and adapt designs to suit
• Preparing design layouts, specifications, bills of quantities and materials lists
• Carrying out factory inspections and liaising with suppliers, clients and engineers through design, construction and commissioning
• Supporting the technical side of quotations and technical documentation

What You'll Bring

• Degree or trade qualifications in switchboard design or an electrical engineering discipline (an Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree is highly regarded)
• Approximately 3 years' experience as a switchboard designer or assembler, plus around 1 year of project engineering exposure
• Advanced AutoCAD skills — this is your core tool day to day
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and the Microsoft Office suite
• Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and document control processes
• Exposure to Okken, Moducell or custom-built assemblies will put you ahead of the pack
• A collaborative, professional approach — you'll be working closely with electrical, structural, mechanical and project engineering teams
