Robinvale District Health Services is seeking an experienced and confident Midwifery Unit Manager — a senior clinical role responsible for delivering and coordinating community-based maternity services.
This senior role combines advanced clinical midwifery practice with operational responsibility for RDHS community-based maternity services. It is a sole practitioner position, suited to a highly skilled and self-motivated midwife who thrives working autonomously within a rural setting.
You will deliver and coordinate high-quality, family-centered care across Antenatal and Domiciliary services, working in close collaboration with the O&G team at Mildura Base Public Hospital to ensure safe, coordinated and effective maternity care.
There is opportunity to contribute to Women's Health services within your scope of practice. While not mandatory, experience or interest in Women's Health will be highly regarded and supported.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and sustain rural maternity services while being supported by an experienced executive team.
About the Role
Provide expert, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care
Deliver domiciliary postnatal services
Coordinate outpatient maternity services at RDHS
Collaborate closely with regional maternity services to ensure continuity of care
Manage discharge planning and referral pathways
Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Contribute to quality improvement and maternity data reporting
Support service sustainability and strategic development initiatives
Contribute to Women's Health services where applicable
The position operates predominantly as a sole practitioner role (approximately 80% autonomous practice), complemented by a weekly on-site visit from an Obstetrics & Gynecology Registrar to support shared care and regional collaboration.
Essential
Current Registration as a Midwife with AHPRA
RANZCOG FSEP Level 1 (or higher)
Minimum 5 years consolidated antenatal, postnatal and birth experience
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a rural setting
Strong knowledge of maternity service provision and rural health challenges
Advanced clinical skills and commitment to evidence-based practice
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Permanent residency status in Australia required for this position
Desirable
Women's Health qualifications (or working towards), including cervical screening and contraception provision experience
Registered Nurse qualification
Postgraduate management qualification (or working towards)
Membership of a professional midwifery body

Robinvale District Health Services is a service (MPS) that provides a diverse range of services to across a catchment area of approximately 60,000 square kilometres. In addition to service delivery in its immediate area, RDHS provides outreach services to the communities of Ouyen, Manangatang and Boundary Bend in Victoria and Dareton, Wentworth and Balranald in New South Wales.
