Canopy is seeking a Carbon Project Officer to join our Carbon team on a 12 month fixed term contract supporting the delivery of carbon project compliance, reporting and audit requirements across our growing portfolio of nature based carbon projects.
This role is well suited to a recent graduate or early career professional looking to build experience in carbon project compliance, reporting and governance. We also welcome applications from candidates with experience in compliance, administration, records management, environmental consulting support or related fields who are looking to expand their skills and develop a career in the environmental and carbon sector.
Working alongside experienced technical specialists, you will play an important role in ensuring carbon projects meet regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements while developing practical skills in carbon project delivery, compliance and reporting.

About the role
Reporting to the Associate Director, Carbon, you will:
Support the preparation and review of carbon project reporting, compliance documentation and associated evidence
Assist with carbon modelling, data analysis and technical assessments under the guidance of senior team members
Maintain accurate project records, supporting documentation and audit trails
Support the preparation of mapping products, technical documentation and project records
Undertake research and analysis to support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively with internal teams to obtain information required for reporting, compliance and project delivery
Support audit preparation and compliance assurance activities
Contribute to the development and improvement of systems, templates and procedures
Identify and escalate compliance, reporting or data quality issues as they arise
About you
You are organised, detail focused and enjoy working with information, documentation and processes. You take pride in producing accurate work and have a strong appreciation for compliance, quality and record keeping.
You may be a recent graduate, an environmental professional in the early stages of your career, or someone with experience in compliance, administration, reporting or records management looking to apply your skills in a growing environmental sector.
To be successful you will bring:
Qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, compliance, regulatory administration or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records
An understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks or reporting requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience preparing, reviewing or coordinating reports, records or technical documentation
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The ability to work collaboratively while managing your own workload
Desirable
Experience using GIS applications
Experience in environmental consulting, natural resource management, compliance or related industries
Familiarity with carbon, sustainability or natural capital projects
