Exige Law is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join our growing practice and play a key leadership role within the firm.

This position is ideally suited to an autonomous practitioner with at least 10 years' post-admission experience in commercial litigation who enjoys running complex disputes from commencement through to resolution. Applicants with significant experience in commercial and business transactional work who are capable of practising across both litigation and commercial matters are also encouraged to apply.

We are open to tailoring the role to the strengths of the right candidate.

Remuneration

Salary package of $140,000 – $180,000+ depending on experience. Salary can be more depending on the rights candite, experience and existing client base.

About the Role

The primary focus of this role is commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Depending on your experience and interests, the role may also include commercial advisory and transactional work.

You will be responsible for managing matters including:

Commercial litigation and dispute resolution

Shareholder, partnership and business disputes

Contractual and property disputes

Leasing disputes

Breach of contract

Insolvency and debt recovery matters

Court proceedings, mediations and negotiated settlements

Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the firm's growth

If the successful candidate has commercial and business experience, then also:

Business acquisitions and sales

Commercial contracts and transactions

Partnership and shareholder agreements

Sale of Shares and Unit Transactions

Leasing, property and finance transactions

About You

The successful candidate will possess:

Minimum 10 years' post-admission experience

Strong experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution

The ability to independently manage litigation files from inception through to resolution

Excellent advocacy, negotiation and strategic thinking skills

Experience appearing in or managing matters through Victorian courts and tribunals

Strong drafting skills across correspondence and advice

Proven ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a team

Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support junior practitioners

Strong organisational skills, initiative and attention to detail

Excellent communication and client relationship skills

A personable, commercially-minded and pragmatic approach

A commitment to delivering exceptional client service and high-quality legal work

Have worked within a billable firm and be familiar with time recording and confidently achieve KPI’s

Desirable but not essential:

Experience in commercial and business transactions

Experience in property, leasing and finance matters

The ability to maintain a mixed litigation and commercial practice
