Senior Financial Accountant

Hobart, TAS | $100,000 - $115,000 + Super

Searson Buck are proud to be recruiting this opportunity on behalf of a well-established Tasmanian organisation with a strong operational footprint and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement, professional development and internal progression.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant looking to move beyond transactional reporting and step into a broader role with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, stakeholder engagement, leadership and commercial decision support.
Working closely with senior leaders, you'll play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, improving reporting processes and helping the business make informed decisions through quality financial analysis.

The Opportunity

Financial & Technical

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Manage statutory compliance including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and other reporting obligations.
  • Support year-end processes and act as a key contact for auditors and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting, budgeting and financial planning activities.

Operational

  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful variance analysis and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, systems and finance processes.
  • Support finance-related projects, automation initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and reporting issues.

Stakeholder & Commercial

  • Partner with operational managers and non-finance stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Prepare reporting packs and financial commentary for leadership teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members.
  • Contribute to building a high-performing and collaborative finance function.

To be successful, you'll ideally bring:

  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • The confidence to engage with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in improving systems, processes and reporting.
