Our client is seeking an experienced QA/QC Officer – Coatings/Painting/Blasting to lead a well-established defence marine maintenance operation located in Osborne.
This is a hands-on, site-based quality role with full accountability for QA/QC across blasting, surface preparation, coating application, inspections, audits, and documentation, including managing NCRs, ITPs, and compliance reporting. You will take ownership of overseeing the quality of blasting and painting works on submarines and naval vessels.
The Opportunity

- Conduct inspections of blasting and coating activities on naval assets
- Monitor subcontractors and ensure compliance with specifications and standards
- Manage inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality documentation
- Maintain NCR register and ensure timely close-out of defects
- Perform audits, surveillance, and quality reporting
- Support project teams with QA/QC processes and continuous improvement

About You
You are an experienced QA/QC or coatings professional who enjoys being close to site operations while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and compliance. You are hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident working within industrial or marine environments, ensuring the highest standards of coating application and inspection.
You will bring:
- Background within marine, naval, shipyard, industrial blasting & painting, slipway, or heavy industry environments
- Strong experience in protective coatings, corrosion control, or coating inspection
- Hands-on operational experience within blasting and painting projects or maintenance environments
- Experience with QA systems, audits, NCR management, and documentation
- NACE Level 1/2 (or equivalent) highly regarded
- Defence industry experience highly regarded
- Drivers Licence
- White Card
- Must be an Australian Citizen
We Are Looking For Backgrounds In:
- Industrial blasting and painting
- Marine, naval, or shipyard environments
- Slipway, dry dock, or heavy engineering projects
- Boating, ship repair, or asset maintenance
- Protective coatings inspection / corrosion control
A defence background or experience working on defence projects is highly regarded.
