Trail Book Marketplace Manager
Sydney | Full Time
Own the Deals. Grow the Marketplace.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an established marketplace that facilitates the buying and selling of mortgage trail books and broking businesses across Australia.
We're looking for a commercially minded dealmaker who enjoys originating opportunities, building trusted relationships and seeing transactions through from the first conversation to settlement. You'll have the autonomy to run the marketplace, grow both the buyer and seller network, and play a key role in expanding an already successful business.
If you thrive on transactions, enjoy negotiating outcomes and want the opportunity to build something with genuine upside, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be responsible for managing and growing a well-established marketplace where mortgage brokers buy and sell trail books and broking businesses.
You'll own the entire transaction lifecycle—from sourcing opportunities and valuing trail books through to matching buyers and sellers, negotiating commercial outcomes and coordinating settlement.
This is far more than a sales role. It's an opportunity to run a business within a business.
Key Responsibilities
Grow both sides of the marketplace by developing a pipeline of buyers and sellers
Proactively originate new opportunities through outbound business development and relationship building
Build referral partnerships with aggregators, industry professionals and strategic partners
Value mortgage trail books and prepare opportunities for market
Match buyers and sellers and manage negotiations through to agreed commercial outcomes
Coordinate transactions through to settlement, working closely with legal representatives and stakeholders
Manage all commercial aspects of each transaction, including retention, clawback, non-solicitation and other deal terms
Lead larger whole-business acquisition opportunities as they arise
Represent the business at industry events, conferences and networking functions
Drive revenue growth across marketplace transactions, valuations and advisory services
About You
You'll be commercially driven, relationship-focused and comfortable taking ownership of transactions from beginning to end.
You'll ideally bring experience from one or more of the following:
Business Broking
Commercial or SME Banking
Corporate Finance
Mergers & Acquisitions
Acquisition Finance
Financial Advisory
Aggregator or Mortgage Industry Corporate Teams
You'll also have:
At least five years' experience managing commercial transactions or business acquisitions
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
Experience analysing business financials and valuations
The confidence to build relationships with senior business owners and professional advisers
A proactive approach to business development and networking
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team
Mortgage industry experience is highly regarded but not essential. If you understand commercial transactions and enjoy building relationships, we'll help you learn the industry.
What's on Offer
Sydney-based full-time opportunity
$160,000 base salary plus super
Uncapped revenue share from your first completed transaction
On-target earnings of $250,000+
Genuine autonomy to build and grow an established marketplace
Direct access to senior leadership and decision-makers
A high-performing, entrepreneurial environment where your contribution has a direct impact
If you're looking for a role where you can combine commercial acumen, relationship management and transaction execution while taking ownership of a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
