Overview
The Clinical Coders are to be able to interpret medical records and perform DRG coding for all inpatient discharges and procedures done from Day Surgery, Dental and Endoscopy accurately within the required time frame. The Clinical Coder is also required to liaise with doctor and other healthcare professionals on clinical coding matters and supporting relevant administrative functions in the department.
Job Description
Review and interpret patients' medical records for accurate clinical coding.
Perform DRG coding for inpatient discharges and procedures, including Day Surgery, Dental, and Endoscopy cases.
Ensure inpatient and Day Surgery cases are coded within the required timeframe for regulatory submission.
Maintain high standards of coding accuracy and turnaround time.
Liaise with doctors and healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses, procedures, or incomplete medical documentation.
Identify and follow up on missing medical records required for coding.
Provide DRG codes and coding-related clarifications to relevant stakeholders, including insurers.
Conduct basic internal audits of coded cases to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Ensure established clinical coding procedures and standards are consistently followed.
Support administrative functions and other ad-hoc projects assigned by the reporting officer.
Job Requirement
Foreign MBBS, Nursing or Healthcare qualification, Diploma in Nursing, or equivalent.
Preferably at least 1 year of clinical coding experience within a hospital setting.
Good knowledge of ICD-10-CM.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Meticulous and thorough with strong attention to detail.
Able to work independently while being an effective team player.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
