Role: Service Manager
Located: Smithfield
Hours: Monday–Friday | 8:00am–4:00pm
Salary: $115K–$130K + Super + UTE

Extras: Fully maintained company UTE – currently a Ford Ranger

Lead the Workshop. Own the Service Function. Stay Hands-On.
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Trade professional or Service/Workshop Leader ready to take the next step.
You’ll lead a small service and workshop team while remaining hands-on with customers, technical issues and field support. This is not a desk-only management role
You’ll be expected to get involved, solve problems and attend customer sites when required.
The business specialises in diesel engines, power generation, pumping systems and engineered power solutions, supporting equipment and industrial applications across Australia.


The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll lead the Service & Workshop function, driving safe, efficient and customer-focused operations.

Duties:

  • Lead and motivate the service and workshop team
  • Manage workshop workflow, productivity and service delivery
  • Oversee customer service, technical support and field repairs
  • Prepare quotations, warranty claims and service documentation
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide on-site support
  • Liaise with Sales, Parts, Accounts, Warehouse and Head Office
  • Maintain workshop safety, quality and housekeeping standards
  • Drive productivity, cost reduction and continuous improvement
  • Deliver product and technical training to staff and customers
  • Manage tooling, equipment and service records
  • Support customer/dealer relationships and attend site visits, field days and exhibitions


What You’ll Bring

  • Mechanical, Diesel, Engine or Automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience
  • Solid diesel engine or mechanical equipment experience
  • Workshop, service or team leadership experience
  • Strong customer focus with commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive “can-do” attitude and ability to work autonomously
  • Good computer skills; SAP experience advantageous
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Forklift Licence highly regarded
