Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our purpose is to support healthy and prosperous communities.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager - Enterprise Risk to lead our enterprise-wide risk, compliance and assurance function.

Reporting to the General Manager - Finance and Business Services, this critical role provides expert leadership and advice to Executive and Governance Committees, influencing organisational decision making, strengthening governance frameworks and driving a proactive risk culture across the organisation.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an accomplished risk and governance leader to make a significant contribution to GVW's ongoing success by ensuring effective governance, compliance and risk management practices that support the delivery of our strategic objectives.


About your new role...

In this leadership role, you will oversee GVW's risk, compliance, assurance, insurance, legal, FOI, business continuity, emergency management, facilities, fleet and security functions. Leading a high-performing multidisciplinary team, you will ensure robust governance frameworks, effective risk oversight and organisational resilience while supporting the achievement of GVW's strategic objectives.

This position is based in Shepparton and includes some travel across GVW sites. Flexible work arrangements are available, where operationally appropriate, in line with GVW policy.

About you... We're looking for someone with:

  • Degree or above in Risk Management, Business/Commerce, Law or a related discipline.
  • Diploma or above in Management or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience (7 years) with enterprise risk and governance (facilitating strategic risk assessments, partnering across the business, leading change)
  • Experience working within the utilities sector or another asset intensive environment
  • Significant leadership experience leading risk, governance, compliance or related functions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 31000 Risk Management, ERM principles and compliance frameworks
  • Proven experience leading and developing multi-disciplined teams through coaching, mentoring and performance leadership
  • Strong strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to influence decision making at executive and board level
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, regulators and governance bodies
  • Strong commercial acumen and organisational awareness
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills
  • Strong commitment to Occupational Health and Safety and staff wellbeing
  • Empathy, cultural awareness and the ability to positively contribute to an inclusive workplace culture.
