MSP Wizard Level 2
Kavira Technology Pty Ltd

Here's the updated version with the typo fixed and a line added on pace and effort:
Get to know Kavira IT
KAVIRA IT: we do boring things for interesting people. We're a values-driven, cybersecurity-focused MSP start-up based in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. "KAVIRA" comes from the Sanskrit word for someone with deep knowledge and insight, which is what we aim to give our clients: tech companies, professional services, and not-for-profits.
Marketing aside
We're cybersecurity-first with a heavy Microsoft 365 and Azure focus, and some GSuite, AWS, and MacOS thrown in to keep you guessing. Our stack looks something like:
Standard MSP tools: TacticalRMM, HaloPSA, Notion, TeamViewer, Hudu
Microsoft Intune / Entra ID
Various cyber tools
SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams
Networking hardware, Unifi-focused
Google Workspace and MacOS (Kandji)
We push secure, cloud-based outcomes, kill technical debt and legacy on-prem infrastructure, and work to CIS Controls, NIST, and ISO 27001 (buzzwords acquired). We also do GRC. Google it before bed, insomnia cured.
What's the job?
We're growing fast, 18 new clients in under a year, and honestly, our process hasn't fully caught up to that growth yet. That's not us admitting things are falling apart. It's us admitting there's genuine space here to build things properly instead of inheriting someone else's five-year-old playbook. We're also a small team, so your lane won't stay narrow. Some weeks you're deep in tickets, other weeks you're running a project or helping shape how we do something better. That's the nature of being the leading edge new kid on the block. It also means some weeks are genuinely busy, and we need someone who leans into that rather than clocking off the second the hour hits.
If that sounds chaotic, it can be. If it sounds like a chance to actually own things rather than just execute, that's the point.
Within that, we're looking for a Level 2. You'll be one of our senior technicians on the ticket queue, handling escalations our Level 1 technician passes up, helping mentor, and ultimately grow the business. You'll also be trusted with real project work, from smaller jobs you run yourself once you've settled in, through to meaningful contributions on the bigger ones.
We want someone with 2 to 3 years of MSP experience who's past the "reset the password, restart the printer" stage and wants real technical ownership. Yes, there's still ticket and onsite work, that's the job, but you won't be stuck there. If you're the person on your current team everyone quietly relies on but nobody's officially promoted, this is that promotion.
We're a small team. We need someone we can hand a problem to and trust it gets handled, not someone we have to check in on. That matters more here than it might somewhere bigger: when things move fast and structure is still being built, we're relying on you to bring the discipline yourself, not wait for a process to hand it to you.
You'll be doing things like:
Triaging and resolving escalated tickets across M365, Devices, Entra ID, Intune, and Google Workspace
Working in a team to identify priorities and opportunities to make our clients happy
Supporting and upskilling other team members
Contributing to client security hardening work: Conditional Access, Intune rollouts, endpoint compliance
Running smaller client projects end to end (scoping through to delivery)
Occasional onsite work and client-facing calls
Ideally you've got:
2 to 3 years in an MSP environment, ticketing and client-facing work
Clear and open communication style, without hiding or a fear of saying "I don't know, let me come back to you"
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune (Google Workspace and Unifi networking a bonus)
A genuine interest in security: even if you're not there yet, you're curious about it and want to build toward it
The ability to pick up a ticket, work out what's actually wrong, and either fix it or escalate with a clear diagnosis, not "it's broken, what do I do"
Confidence to work without someone checking your output before it goes to a client
The instinct to ask the right question once when unsure. You don't guess and you don't go silent
Genuine self-motivation. Nobody's handing you a daily task list here, you'll need to spot what needs doing and get on with it
A real work ethic. When it's busy, you put the effort in without being asked twice
A permanent right to work in Australia and based in Melbourne (this one's non-negotiable, sorry)
What's in it for you?
You'll still be doing ticket and onsite work, that's the job. But you won't be stuck there. We're growing fast and there's real room to rabbit hole into a process or solution, become our resident SME on a platform you like, or step into a leadership role as the team scales. Plus we don't do boring. Sick of the MSP space, or don't like how things are done? Great, you're our kind of person.
Once the queue's clear, the tickets are actioned, and projects are on schedule, your time is genuinely your own. Upskill, chip away at internal quality of life work that always gets neglected, or take the dog for a walk and recalibrate. We don't care how you fill the gaps as long as the work gets done.
Other benefits:
Hybrid work: work from home 90% of the time, except for client visits and team catch-ups in Cremorne or the Mornington Peninsula
Real-world tech work, no corporate silliness
Room to learn and take on extra roles and responsibilities as much as you want to handle
Paid certs and training
Substandard humour from your co-workers and leadership, free of charge
How to apply
Send your resume and a cover letter. In it, tell us what you don't like about the MSP world and how you would change it. Generic "I'm a team player" cover letters get filtered out fast, so make it specific.
