Known for our progressive approach and dedication to our residents, we're on the hunt for a Library Officer – Collections and Operations Support to join our vibrant team.

As Library Officer – Collections and Operations Support, you will apply your skills to deliver high-quality customer service at Prospect Library as well as providing support for the team in collection maintenance and in the delivery of the front-of-house operations.

So, what's the role?

This is a 6-month fixed-term part-time opportunity (0.8 FTE) to support our Library team in day-to-day operations and maintaining our collection. You will be taking on the administrative role that plays a key role in the smooth running of our iconic Prospect Library, a beautiful public space at the centre of Council operations, in the thriving heart of the city. The role is also part of the library roster rotation and has a significant focus on customer service and general circulation.

Here's what you’ll dive into:

Assist with all aspects of library circulation processes

Actively promote our library services, activities and programs to the Prospect community and beyond

Respond to customer queries and assist customers to access library services including accessing facilities, collections, technology and equipment

Ensure quality customer service is delivered at all times and customer needs are met in a friendly, approachable and efficient manner

Assist in collection acquisitions, cataloguing, and furnishing, to create shelf ready items for loan in the library service, with a particular focus on magazines and the library Book Groups

Assist in the management of financial transactions for the library

Assist in ensuring library equipment, furnishings and customer facilities are in good working order

Assist in the collation and reporting of usage and service statistics relevant to front-of-house operations

Maintain high quality records as per Council procedures

Do you have library qualifications and/or prior experience (minimum 2 years) working in the public library field?

Do you have experience using the Sirsi Dynix Workflows library management system?

Are you confident with tech and happy to help others find their way around digital tools, fix equipment hiccups, and explore online resources?

Are you happy to work effectively both by yourself with minimal supervision and as part of a team?

Do you have strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities?
