About the role
As a Control Room Engineer, you will be responsible for the real-time monitoring and coordination of utility-scale solar farms, substations, and associated electrical infrastructure. Working from our Control Room in Chermside, you will monitor plant performance, respond to operational events, coordinate field resources, support compliance obligations, and contribute to the ongoing optimisation of renewable energy assets. You will play a key role in ensuring high asset availability, operational safety, and compliance with industry requirements.
Key responsibilities
Monitor solar farms, substations, and associated infrastructure using SCADA and monitoring systems.
Track plant performance, alarms, faults, outages, and operational status.
Maintain real-time awareness of asset conditions across the portfolio.
Escalate operational issues in accordance with established procedures.
Respond promptly to alarms and operational events.
Coordinate with field technicians, contractors, network service providers, and stakeholders.
Support outage management and restoration activities.
Record and track faults, incidents, and corrective actions.
Coordinate operational communications with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Network Service Providers (NSPs), and other relevant stakeholders.
Analyse operational data and plant performance trends.
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 1 year of experience in renewable energy operations, power generation, utility operations, electrical infrastructure, industrial operations, or control room environments.
Understanding of electrical power systems and renewable energy technologies.
Experience working with SCADA systems, monitoring platforms, or industrial control systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
