The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) is the custodian of knowledge and data on the Territory’s geology and resources and undertakes activities to support and grow resources exploration industry including publishing geoscientific reports, maps, data packages and promotional materials.

As the Senior Librarian (P3) you will provide leadership and expert advice to strategically procure, catalogue, curate, manage and promote access to a diverse collection of geoscientific reports and datasets, maps and academic publications to build knowledge of the geology and resource potential of the Northern Territory.

About the role

In this role, you will:

Lead and support a small, collaborative Information Services team

Manage access to physical and digital library collections and research resources

Drive improvements to library systems and digital platforms

Lead strategic projects, procurement activities, and contract management

Develop policies, procedures, and workflows to support high-quality service delivery

Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement

Prepare reports and recommendations to support organisational decision-making

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science

Experience in delivering contemporary library or information services

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Proven project management and organisational capabilities

Experience within a science, research, or technical environment will be highly regarded

Located in Darwin you will form part of a passionate and talented Northern Territory Geological Survey team and be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package inclusive of; 12% superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading and the opportunity to undertake meaningful work to support and promote Information Services.
