About the role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of a growing residential and commercial construction business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and project team to ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting, project profitability and effective cash-flow management.
Key responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day financial accounting function
Manage monthly IAS, quarterly BAS, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and WorkCover requirements
Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, cash-flow and management reports
Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations
Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP and project profitability
Monitor project budgets, committed costs, variations and cost-to-complete
Prepare and manage business and project cash-flow forecasts
Monitor progress claims, retentions, debtors and supplier/subcontractor payments
Provide Directors and Project Managers with financial analysis and advice on cost control and project performance
Assist with annual budgets, forecasting and financial planning
About you
Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role
Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction accounting
Demonstrated experience with job costing, WIP, project profitability and cash-flow forecasting
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Commercially minded with the ability to provide practical financial advice to Directors and Project Managers
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Experience with construction and accounting software will be highly regarded
