About the Project Coordinator Role
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Indigenous Project Coordinator to join our growing team supporting major construction and infrastructure projects across Newcastle and the Hunter Region. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects that deliver lasting benefits for communities while ensuring Indigenous participation, engagement, and cultural considerations remain at the forefront of project delivery.
In this role, you will work closely with project teams, clients, contractors, Traditional Owners, Indigenous businesses, and community stakeholders to drive meaningful Indigenous outcomes throughout the project lifecycle. You will play a key role in developing and implementing Indigenous engagement initiatives, supporting Indigenous employment and procurement opportunities, and fostering strong relationships that contribute to successful project delivery.
Working alongside project managers, commercial teams, and senior stakeholders, you will help create positive social and economic outcomes while supporting the delivery of complex and nationally significant construction projects.
Your Experience
Your expertise will help our clients to:
Develop and implement Indigenous engagement strategies that create meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Traditional Owners, Indigenous organisations, and key project stakeholders.
Identify and promote opportunities for Indigenous employment, training, and business participation across construction projects.
Provide guidance on cultural awareness, community engagement, and Indigenous participation requirements.
Support project teams in meeting client commitments, social procurement objectives, and Indigenous participation targets.
Facilitate effective consultation and communication between project teams and Indigenous stakeholders.
Contribute to the successful delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects while creating lasting community benefits.
Your Qualifications
To succeed in this Indigenous Advisor role, you will likely have experience and/or qualifications in one or more of the following:
Community Engagement, Indigenous Studies, Consutruction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in Indigenous engagement, stakeholder relations, social impact, community development, or similar fields.
Experience working within the construction, infrastructure, government, Defence, or related sectors.
Strong understanding of Indigenous participation frameworks, cultural heritage considerations, and community engagement principles.
Lived experience and cultural knowledge are highly valued.
Your Eligibility
To be successful in this role, you will need:
The ability to travel within Newcastle, the Hunter Region, and the Central Coast region as required.
A current driver's licence.
Full Australian working rights, with the ability to obtain an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance.
