About the role

Cono Services is a civil construction contractor specialising in bulk excavation, earthworks, demolition, detailed excavation and complex civil works across major infrastructure and construction projects. We work alongside Tier 1 contractors across Australia, providing experienced teams and practical construction solutions to safely deliver challenging projects from early works through to completion.

The Site Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day engineering and technical delivery of works on site for CONO Services' civil and construction projects. The role ensures works are constructed in accordance with design, specification and quality requirements, and provides technical direction and support to site supervisors and subcontractors. Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineer, the Site Engineer plays a key role in set out and survey control, quality assurance, and the day-to-day resolution of technical issues on site. Key responsibilities

Conduct and/or oversee survey set out and levels for civil and construction works.

Ensure works are constructed in accordance with design drawings, specifications and engineering requirements.

Interpret and apply engineering drawings and specifications on site, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

Implement and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for works on site.

Conduct inspections and coordinate testing, completing quality documentation including hold points, checklists and non-conformance reports.

Maintain accurate quality and compliance records in accordance with project and certification requirements.

Provide technical support and direction to site supervisors, subcontractors and trades.

Identify and resolve on-site technical and construction issues, escalating to the Project Engineer/Project Manager as required.

Coordinate materials testing with testing laboratories and manage associated certificates.

Monitor daily and weekly progress against the project program.

About you

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or working towards completion), or a relevant equivalent qualification.

Typically, 1–4 years' site-based experience in civil or construction works (graduate to intermediate level).

Working knowledge of set out/survey principles, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Familiarity with quality systems (ITPs, non-conformance reporting) and common construction methods.

Current driver's license and White Card (General Construction Induction).

Strong attention to detail and numeracy.

Sound problem-solving skills, with a practical, hands-on approach.

Effective communicator, able to work confidently with site teams, supervisors and subcontractors.

Safety-conscious, with a genuine commitment to HSEQ standards.

Comfortable working outdoors in an active construction site environment.
