WorkTrybe have been partnering exclusively with Sumo Energy as they build out their new Queensland operations. This is your opportunity to joina growing team of collections specialists, shape the culture and be part of a business going through significant transformation.

The Role

As a Collections Specialist you'll work closely with customers to manage outstanding accounts, set up payment solutions and provide support during financial difficulty.

This is not a traditional “hard collections” role - it’s about working with customers to find the right outcome, in an essential service industry where empathy and compliance are key.

• Managing a mix of inbound and outbound collections calls
• Setting up payment plans and taking payments
• Supporting customers experiencing financial hardship
• Explaining assistance programs and available support options
• Handling a variety of accounts - from small balances to large debts
• Navigating compliance requirements and regulated processes
• Maintaining accurate notes and customer records
• Identifying issues and escalating where required

What we're looking for

• Previous collections experience (minimum 6 months required)
• Strong communication skills with a confident and professional phone manner
• Ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and care
• Strong written skills for notes and customer communication
• Attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
• Commercial awareness and ability to prioritise accounts effectively
• A proactive mindset - able to think, ask questions and suggest solutions
• Energy industry experience is desirable, not essential - full training provided

Shifts & Salary

• $65,000 - $80,000 + Super (depending on experience)
• Monday-Friday rotating roster between 7:30am - 6:00pm to support customers across Australia
• 37.5 hours per week. Permanent roles.
