About the role

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven senior operational leader to join Somerville as Senior Manager, Supported Independent Living.

Reporting to the General Manager, Disability Services, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across Somerville's Supported Independent Living services throughout the Northern Territory.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the role contributes to the ongoing development and sustainability of disability services across the organisation, supporting service quality, leadership capability and continuous improvement to achieve positive outcomes for participants.

What you’ll do

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and supporting Regional Managers to ensure high-quality service delivery across Somerville's Supported Independent Living services

Driving consistency of practice, service quality and operational standards across all regions

Supporting services that assist participants with complex support needs, including behaviours of concern, psychosocial disability, forensic disability and complex health requirements

Monitoring operational performance, participant outcomes, service quality and compliance to identify risks, trends and opportunities for improvement

Supporting service growth, participant onboarding and complex transitions

Leading continuous improvement initiatives and supporting audit readiness across disability services

Building and maintaining effective relationships with participants, families, guardians, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals, government agencies and other stakeholders

Working collaboratively with Workforce, Human Resources, Quality, Clinical and Finance teams to support safe, effective and sustainable service delivery

Providing operational advice and recommendations to senior leadership regarding service delivery, risks and emerging issues

Participating in organisational planning and strategic initiatives

Participating in the on-call roster and providing leadership support outside standard business hours where required

What you’ll bring

You will bring the following skills, experience and knowledge:

Extensive leadership and management experience within the disability sector

Strong knowledge of the NDIS, including the Practice Standards, Quality and Safeguarding Framework, restrictive practice requirements and the operation of 24/7 support services

Demonstrated experience overseeing Supported Independent Living services, including services supporting participants with complex support needs and behaviours of concern

Proven ability to lead and develop leaders across multiple service locations

Strong understanding of safeguarding, compliance, risk management and service quality requirements

Sound judgement and the ability to effectively manage complex operational and participant-related matters

Strong financial and operational management skills, including experience overseeing budgets, service sustainability and operational performance

Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and client management systems

Understanding of contemporary practice approaches including active support, dignity of risk, positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and person-centred service delivery

You will also need to hold, or have the ability to obtain, an NT Working with Children Clearance, satisfactory Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, NT Driver Licence, First Aid and CPR, and influenza vaccination.
