Head of Finance & Operations

Personalised Surgery | Sydney, Australia | Full-time, reporting to the CEO

A rare seat at the leadership table for a fast-moving finance and operations talent ready to build the systems behind a high-tech, high-growth medical device company scaling globally, with a genuine path to CFO or COO.

About us

Personalised Surgery is Australia's leading orthopaedic innovation hub for 3D printed patient-specific instruments and custom implants. Our products are designed by surgeons and built by a team of expert engineers, bringing together clinical expertise, advanced manufacturing and innovative technology to solve complex surgical challenges. We move fast, new products, new markets and new systems are being built and rebuilt as we grow, and the pace shows no sign of slowing. With comprehensive global quality and regulatory clearance, we are destined for rapid international expansion. As we scale, we need someone to build the financial and operational backbone that supports that growth and grow with us into a senior executive role.

The opportunity

This is a newly created, top-tier finance and operations role reporting directly to the CEO, with an Accounts Manager and Operations Manager reporting to you. You'll own the numbers and the machinery behind the business: financial strategy, reporting and controls, cash and working capital, inventory planning and the operational processes that keep manufacturing, supply chain, and international expansion running smoothly. Expect a flat structure, a fast pace and real variety, few days will look the same.

We're looking for someone early enough in their career to be hungry for the next step, but sharp and capable enough to run a function at this level today. This role is a genuine platform to CFO or COO as we scale, not a title, an actual trajectory, shaped in large part by how you perform in it.

What you'll do

Own financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the business, providing the CEO and board with clarity on performance and cash position.

Build and strengthen financial controls, processes, and systems fit for a company scaling internationally, including multi-currency and cross-border considerations.

Plan and lead the transition to an ERP, and evaluate the tools, automation and dashboards that let a lean team punch above its weight.

Lead operational functions including inventory planning, supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing finance.

Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurers and external advisors, and support capital raising and funding conversations as they arise.

Support international market entry from a finance and operations standpoint, regulatory cost structures, distribution economics, and local compliance requirements.

Partner closely with the CEO and senior management team on strategic decisions, contributing commercial and operational judgement beyond pure finance.

What we're looking for

A finance qualification (CA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent) and a strong grounding in financial and management accounting.

Experience across both finance and operations, ideally in manufacturing, medical devices, or another fast-moving, physical-product industry.

Energised, not just comfortable, operating in a fast-growing, resource-constrained environment where you'll be building processes and systems, not just running existing ones.

A natural curiosity about technology and systems, and an interest in using them to make a lean team faster and sharper.

Genuine ambition toward a CFO or COO career path, and the maturity to earn trust at the leadership table early in that journey.

Strong communication skills, you'll be presenting to the CEO and board regularly.

Why join us

A dynamic, young, innovative, high-tech company leading an emerging market, start-up pace and energy, backed by the resources of a scaling business.

A direct line to the CEO and real influence over how the business is built, not just reported on.

A defined growth path to CFO or COO as the company scales internationally, with a steep learning curve and merit-based progression.

The chance to shape finance and operations from the ground up in a category with real impact, unique medical devices with a meaningful clinical benefit for surgeons and patients.

Base salary $150,000+ and potential qualification for employee share option program.

How to Apply

If you're interested in joining our team, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role and how your background aligns with our work.
