The opportunity

We are in the market for a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager Design and Construction to manage the City’s in-house annual civil capital works projects and provide project management services.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, this role will be responsible for managing civil projects, including:

  • Assisting the Coordinators for Engineering Services, Design Services, Survey Services and City Construction to organise the design process from concept schematic drawings through to ready-for-construction documentation
  • Providing quality infrastructure project management services to the organisation, including timely and budget sensitive delivery of key capital works and investigation projects
  • Effectively managing capital investment works projects by facilitating multi-disciplinary teams and providing advice on strategic commercial and project issues
  • Actively managing project and contractual risks and compliance, and preparing project risk registers with clear mitigation plans
  • Facilitating the procurement and contract awarding process; and
  • Ensuring programmed targets and budgets are met.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering or Construction)
  • Recognition by The Institution of Engineers Australia as a professional Engineer
  • A minimum five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contracts, contract law and project management principles
  • Thorough knowledge of the project management process from client brief to project hand over.
  • Sound current knowledge of civil construction methods/techniques, utilities, all services and equipment
  • Sound knowledge of the civil approval process, regulatory authorities, procedures, codes and regulations
  • Current unrestricted ‘C’ class national driver’s licence.
