Are you an experienced finance and operations professional who enjoys combining strong financial management with the practical oversight of a growing business?
We are seeking a capable and commercially minded Finance & Operations Manager to take ownership of the financial administration and day-to-day operational functions of an established professional services / financial planning business.
This is a broad, hands-on role suited to someone who is equally comfortable working with budgets, cash flow, payroll and management reporting as they are improving business processes, coordinating compliance, supporting people operations and managing key service providers.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide the financial visibility and operational discipline needed to support effective decision-making and ensure the business runs smoothly. The underlying position has responsibility for financial planning, budgets, financial insights and broader business operations.
What you'll be responsible for
Finance & reporting
A key focus of the role will be taking ownership of the business's day-to-day finance function, including:
Managing budgets, cash flow forecasts and expense tracking
Performing bookkeeping, transaction management and coding
Preparing financial and management reports
Analysing financial performance and identifying trends and insights
Managing payroll and employee superannuation
Reconciling bank transactions, supplier invoices and client receipts
Preparing and submitting BAS, IAS and other required ATO lodgements
Supporting annual and cash flow budgeting
Maintaining accurate financial records for audit and tax purposes
Liaising with external accountants regarding tax, lodgements and reporting.
These responsibilities reflect the substantial finance component of the position, which spans budgeting, bookkeeping, financial analysis, reporting, payroll, reconciliations and statutory lodgements.
Business operations
Alongside finance, you will oversee and coordinate a range of operational functions, including:
Driving improvements to business processes, systems and workflows
Managing relationships with external suppliers and service providers
Coordinating IT support, technology procurement, software licenses and user access
Overseeing key business systems, subscriptions and digital platforms
Managing company insurance policies and operational records
Coordinating travel, facilities and general office requirements
Ensuring the business maintains an organised, efficient and professional operating environment.
The role has broad responsibility for technology, suppliers, business systems, insurance, records and general office operations.
Compliance & risk
You will also support the business's compliance and risk-management framework by:
Maintaining compliance registers and supporting documentation
Monitoring and maintaining breach and conflict-of-interest registers
Identifying operational risks and supporting appropriate mitigation
Ensuring relevant policies and procedures remain current
Supporting workplace health and safety compliance.
Experience in a regulated or professional services environment will be particularly valuable, given the position's involvement in compliance documentation and registers.
People operations
You will provide practical support across the employee lifecycle, including:
Coordinating recruitment administration and interviews
Preparing employment documentation
Managing onboarding and induction processes
Coordinating payroll-related employee setup
Maintaining confidential employee records
Maintaining HR policies and procedures
Supporting the smooth administration of day-to-day people matters.

About you
You are likely to be an experienced finance, operations or business management professional who enjoys taking ownership and working across different areas of a business.
You will ideally bring:
5+ years' experience in finance administration, business operations, business management or a similar role
Strong bookkeeping and financial administration capability
Experience with budgeting, cash flow, payroll, reconciliations and financial reporting
Working knowledge of Xero and confidence using cloud-based business systems
Experience coordinating broader business operations, suppliers and corporate services
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
A high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
A qualification in business, accounting or a related discipline would be well regarded. Experience within financial services, accounting or another professional services environment would also be advantageous. Bookkeeping experience and/or BAS Agent registration is desirable but not essential.
