About the role
We're looking for great humans to support another great human.
At Nest Support Solutions, we believe our team members are much more than "workers" which is why we call them Service Support Officers. Right now, we're looking for compassionate, reliable and down-to-earth people to join our team in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Adelaide's Northern Suburbs.
This casual role involves supporting a middle-aged gentleman to live life his way, achieve his goals, build independence and stay connected to his community. No two days are the same. One day you might be supporting daily routines at home, the next you could be helping someone get to an appointment, a community activity, or pursuing something they're passionate about.
If you're someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships, empowering others and making a real difference (without taking yourself too seriously), we'd love to meet you.
At Nest, we're all about person-centred support, meaningful connections and creating opportunities for people to thrive. You'll be backed by a supportive team that values your ideas, celebrates your wins and appreciates the impact you make every day.
Key responsibilities
Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with activities of daily living such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
Support participants in accessing community activities, social engagement and recreational opportunities that promote wellbeing and social inclusion
Assist with transportation and accompanying participants to appointments and community outings
Maintain accurate and detailed records of support provided, noting any changes in health or wellbeing
Communicate effectively with participants, their families, Nest staff and the broader support team to ensure consistent and coordinated care
Respond to participants needs and concerns with empathy, patience and respect for their independence and dignity
Support participants in developing and maintaining life skills and independence where appropriate
Adhere to all health, safety and safeguarding protocols, including manual handling and infection control procedures
Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant legislation including the Disability Discrimination Act and privacy requirements
Representing Nest Support Solutions professionally at all times with our iCare Values being our guiding principles
Integrity – Acting with honesty, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right.
Collaboration – Working together seamlessly to achieve shared goals and deliver meaningful outcomes.
Accountability – Taking ownership of our actions, decisions, and commitments with transparency.
Respect – Valuing diversity, honouring individuality, and fostering mutual understanding.
Empowerment – Inspiring confidence and independence by providing the tools and support for success.
What we're looking for
You genuinely care about people. You're passionate about supporting others to live the life they choose and understand that great support starts with respect, empathy and a person-centred approach.
Availability is key to the role; you must be available and open to passive sleepover shifts (in conjunction with other team members) as a crucial function of being part of a SIL team.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with participants and their families
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible, casual capacity
Current valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearances
Minimum Disability or Aged Care Certification preferred or willingness to obtain, nursing experience would be a bonus!
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
A valid driver's license and reliable access to transport
Physical ability to provide hands-on support, including manual handling and personal care assistance
Patience, empathy and a non-judgmental approach to service delivery
Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct in all interactions
Previous experience in disability support, aged care or community services required
