Concordia Lutheran College is seeking a caring, organised and proactive Boarding Coordinator to commence in January 2027. The Boarding Coordinator will lead our Learning in Residence Program and support the personal, spiritual, academic, physical, mental and pastoral growth of our boarding students.
This is a key leadership role within the College’s boarding community. The Boarding Coordinator will maintain an active and visible presence in the Boarding House, foster a strong sense of belonging and pride, and work closely with students, families and College staff to provide a safe, nurturing and structured residential environment.
About the role
The Boarding Coordinator is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the Boarding House and coordinating a holistic residential program that supports students’ wellbeing, learning, leadership, service, recreation and personal development.
The role reports to the Head of College and works in partnership with the Director of Stephen Street Campus, Director of Pastoral Care and Wellbeing, the Pastoral Care Team, boarding parents, Senior Residents and Junior Residents.
This is a full-time position with hours averaged over the school year. During term time, up to 46 hours may be rostered in any one week.
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
Lead and support the Learning in Residence Program, providing a holistic approach to student growth, academic attainment, service, wellbeing and pastoral care.
Actively nurture, monitor, engage and support each student’s academic, sporting, extra-curricular, moral, spiritual, health, physical and mental welfare.
Maintain a visible and active presence in the Boarding House and attend meals as required to monitor routines, behaviour and student wellbeing.
Build strong relationships with boarders, parents, colleagues and the broader College community.
Communicate regularly with parents throughout the term, including positive and constructive feedback through appropriate channels such as REACH.
Develop and implement recreation, activities, leadership, community service, cultural and excursion programs for boarders.
Support students with wellbeing needs and help ensure the dignity of each student is nurtured and protected.
Promote a positive homework and study environment, monitor academic progress, and liaise with academic staff to support student learning.
Coordinate boarding administration, including leave management, student movements, rolls, arrivals and departures, host lists and student reports.
Manage and support boarding staff, including selection, induction, rostering, communication, professional development and team morale.
Support boarding communications, publications, marketing and promotional activities, including newsletters, handbooks, website content, social media posts, Open Days and Information Evenings.
About you
The ideal candidate will be a mature, compassionate and capable leader who enjoys working with young people and understands the important role boarding plays in student development.
You will bring:
Appropriate qualifications, such as Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services, Youth Work, ABSA Duty of Care Certification, and/or equivalent experience in school-based boarding of Students.
A strong commitment to the College Vision, Philosophy and Values and to the delivery of Christian-based education and service within the College community.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with students, parents, colleagues and the wider community.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
The ability to build effective, appropriate and productive relationships with adolescents, parents and colleagues.
Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
The ability to respond appropriately and independently to student wellbeing matters in line with College values and strategic objectives.
Flexibility to work varied hours as required.
A current driver’s licence, with capacity to upgrade to the licence required to drive a small bus.
Current First Aid qualifications, Mental Health First Aid, and a current Blue Card issued by Blue Card Services Queensland, or eligibility to obtain one.
Remuneration and benefits
The position is classified as Boarding School Supervision Staff, with remuneration to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
The position includes the provision of full board, including a two-bedroom unit inclusive of utilities and internet, for the Boarding Coordinator and family if applicable, as negotiated with the College. Use of a lockable garage is also be included. A College-issued mobile phone and device are also provided.
