About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available to join a growing professional services business in a key role combining bookkeeping, client advisory, team coordination and practice management.

This is an opportunity for an experienced bookkeeping or accounting professional who is looking to step beyond traditional transactional work and take on greater responsibility across client relationships, team leadership, business processes and practice growth.

Working closely with the business owners, you will play an important role in delivering a high level of service to clients while helping drive the continued growth and development of the business.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of client bookkeeping and accounting requirements
• Completing and overseeing GST, BAS and IAS-related activities
• Supporting payroll compliance and payroll tax reporting
• Managing client files, data and documentation
• Monitoring client workflows, deadlines and scope to ensure work is delivered efficiently
• Supporting client onboarding, including understanding client requirements and assisting with scoping and pricing
• Attending client premises where required to assess bookkeeping and training requirements
• Developing and maintaining client procedures and ensuring the team follows established processes
• Providing business advisory support to clients, with training provided where required
• Supervising and coordinating both Australian-based and offshore team members
• Delegating workloads, monitoring delivery and supporting team development
• Organising and facilitating team WIP meetings
• Assisting with recruitment, testing and selection of offshore team members as the team continues to grow
• Supporting the implementation of new technology, systems and process improvements
• Building strong client relationships and maintaining a high standard of client service
• Working alongside the owners on the strategic direction and continued growth of the business
• Attending networking events, seminars, conferences and training opportunities as required

Systems & Technology

The business uses a range of modern accounting and practice management platforms, including Xero, MYOB, Karbon, XPM, Microsoft 365, Dext and Hubdoc.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in researching and implementing new technology and solutions as the business continues to evolve.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded bookkeeping or accounting professional who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience across bookkeeping and client accounting functions
• Sound knowledge of Australian bookkeeping and compliance requirements
• Experience with BAS/IAS and GST-related activities
• Exposure to payroll and payroll compliance
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Experience coordinating, mentoring or supervising other team members
• A proactive approach to identifying process and technology improvements
• Confidence working directly with clients and business owners
• A genuine interest in business advisory and developing commercial skills
• Strong systems aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies

Experience within an accounting, bookkeeping or professional services practice will be highly regarded.
