This is a rare opportunity to join a highly regarded Health practice while gaining exposure to some of the most significant investigations and inquiries currently taking place in Queensland.

Join a leading national law firm and work closely with an experienced Health Partner on sophisticated matters advising healthcare providers, practitioners and organisations. Alongside the Health practice, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to major investigations and inquiries.

THE ROLE
Working within a highly regarded Health practice, you'll advise clients across a broad range of complex health and medical matters, with the opportunity to develop your expertise across both contentious and advisory work.

Your work will include:

  • Medical negligence claims, both pre-litigation and litigated
  • Acting for healthcare providers and medical practitioners
  • Coronial investigations and inquests
  • Investigations, inquiries and commissions of inquiry
  • Statutory complaints processes, including AHPRA matters
  • Investigations into allegations of substandard care
  • Health and medical regulatory matters
  • Clinical service delivery issues
  • Risk mitigation and management
  • Advising on adverse events and the management of practitioners involved in those events
  • Capacity, substitute decision-making and end-of-life decision-making
  • Insurance and indemnity issues
  • Development and review of policies, guidelines and procedures

There will also be the opportunity to work on major investigations and inquiries, providing exposure to high-profile and complex work beyond traditional Health litigation.

ABOUT YOU

We're interested in speaking with lawyers with 3-5 years' PAE at Associate level, through to Junior SA, who have an interest in developing their career in Health, investigations and inquiries.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in health and medical law, medical negligence, litigation or a related disputes practice
  • Experience advising healthcare providers, practitioners, insurers or government clients would be highly regarded
  • Exposure to investigations, inquiries, coronial matters or regulatory work would be advantageous
  • Strong academics
  • Experience at another top-tier firm or mid-tier national.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
