The Role:

We are seeking casual Barrier Attendants to work casually at race meetings and trials across Tasmania.

Shifts available at Hobart, Longford, Launceston, and Devonport

Trials are generally held on Monday or Tuesday beginning at 10:30am (minimum shift is 4 hours pay)

Race meetings are generally held on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:30pm to 10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 5:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

Handle and load horses into the barriers

Provide vital support for the jockeys and horses in and behind the barriers.

Check that horses are wearing approved equipment and refit any damaged equipment.

Communicate with the starter to ensure all horses are ready and able to be released for a fair start to the race each time.

Adhere to Health & Safety procedures including wearing the applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform at all times

About you:

Reliable and hard-working approach

Excellent communication skills

Previous experience working with horses

Current driver’s license

Enjoy working as part of a team
