The Role

ABC Newcastle is looking for a Presenter to host news radio programs that shape the daily conversation across the Hunter.

In this role, you’ll set the agenda for the region, leading meaningful conversations, breaking down the issues that matter, and creating a program that audiences turn to for context, connection and insight. You’ll bring a distinctive on-air presence that balances authority with warmth, and curiosity with clarity.

This role goes beyond presenting. You’ll be central to editorial planning, proactively generating ideas, building strong community relationships, and identifying original and engaging stories that capture the character, challenges and opportunities of the region.

The Job

  • Prepare and present an innovative and creative live weekday radio program that informs, entertains and engages audiences.
  • Develop original story ideas and content across radio and digital platforms.
  • Build strong connections with the local community and maintain relevant contacts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality local and national content.
  • Contribute to editorial planning and commissioning processes.
  • Support ABC emergency broadcasting and coverage when required.
  • Identify opportunities to share and promote content across the ABC network.

About You

You’re a confident and experienced broadcaster with a passion for storytelling and connecting with audiences.

You'll have:

  • Strong on-air presentation skills with demonstrated experience delivering engaging audio content.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and the ability to identify, research and shape compelling stories.
  • A genuine interest in and understanding of regional communities, with the ability to reflect diverse voices and perspectives and a willingness to present programs out in the community from time-to-time.
