Disability Support Worker (Mandarin and Cantonese speaking only)

Location: Burwood

Shift Schedule: 24/7 rotating roster - morning, afternoon, and active night and sleepover shifts

Job Type: Casual

Pay Rate: SCHADS Award Level 2.1 + 25% Casual Loading (Current pay at Level 2.4 + 25% Casual Loading until further notice)

Base Rate + casual loading: Level 2.4 = $49.41 (penalty rates apply for afternoon, night, weekends and public holidays)

While this is a casual position, you may be scheduled for regular ongoing shifts to support work/life balance, with the potential to move into a permanent role.

About the Role

We are looking for caring Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team in Burwood.

Speaking and understanding Mandarin and Cantonese is essential as you will support participants who prefer care in their own language and cultural environment.

Ample Life provides Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Respite Accommodation (MTA/STA) services for NDIS participants across Sydney.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Checks

Certificate III in Individual Support (or higher)

Current First Aid & CPR

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)

National Police Check

NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to complete)

Skills & Experience

Fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese

Minimum 1 year experience supporting people with mental health, psychosocial disability, dementia or behaviours of concern

Experience following Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)

Medication administration experience

Experience with manual handling (E.g. hoists, slide sheets)

Comfortable providing personal care

Available for morning, afternoon, active night and sleepover shifts

Your Responsibilities

Provide person-centred daily support and personal care

Assist with community access and participant goals

Administer medication safely

Follow Behaviour Support Plans

Use manual handling equipment safely

Complete shift notes and incident reports

Work closely with families, allied health professionals and the care team

Maintain participant dignity, privacy and safety
