The Opportunity
An exciting short term opportunity exists for an experienced A-Grade Electrician to join a major infrastructure project team delivering high-voltage electrical systems across large-scale data centre developments. This role is focused on the construction, assembly, installation, and commissioning support of high-voltage switchboards and switchgear systems ranging from 11kV to 66kV. Working alongside engineering, testing, and commissioning professionals, you will play a key role in delivering critical power infrastructure to some of Australia's most advanced facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, install, and fit out HV switchboards and switchgear in accordance with design drawings and manufacturer specifications.
Complete secondary and control wiring for protection relays, interlocking systems, instrumentation, and SCADA interfaces.
Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
Verify CT, VT, protection, and control wiring against schematics and signal schedules.
Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing as required.
Ensure all installations comply with Australian Standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with testing and commissioning personnel to achieve energisation milestones.
Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation, as-built records, and marked-up drawings.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence.
Demonstrated experience constructing and wiring HV switchgear and switchboards (11kV–66kV).
Strong knowledge of control wiring, protection systems, and interlocking circuits.
Experience working with major switchgear manufacturers such as Schneider Electric, ABB, Siemens, or equivalent.
Understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and relevant HV installation standards.
Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and documentation processes.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Desirable
HV Switching Operator accreditation.
Previous experience on data centre, utility, substation, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
Exposure to SCADA systems and digital protection relays.
Current LVR/CPR, Confined Space, and EWP certifications.
